2008 PRESIDENTIAL AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

USOF President Clare Durand announced the winners of this year's President's Awards at the Annual General Meeting held in Laramie, Wyoming, in early August.

"The awards this year go to Randy Hall and Kent Shaw, two volunteers who help the USOF A-meet experience be its best.

"Randy Hall has served as USOF's sanctioning committee chair for a number of years. During his tenure, the committee has done an exceptional job of giving high quality attention to every sanctioning application and providing excellent comments and guidance to clubs hosting A-meets. Randy's high standards of service have insured that sanctioning applications were dealt with expediently. In addition, Randy took a website started by Sandy Fillebrown and turned it into an amazing calendar resource for clubs planning an A-meet or Championship.

"Kent Shaw has developed software for online meet registration that he makes available to clubs across the country. Kent's registration software helps take a load off of local volunteers and provides a standardized interface to participants registering for meets. It's also a lot of fun to sort the entry list just about any way you want to look at it! Kent is also a member of the rankings committe and provides programmming and software support for the rolling rankings and associated website. Although Kent is not the public face of the rankings committee, his participation in the rolling rankings effort is an integral part of the system.
